Great impressions in London

201107_London_WinnersLast week of July was a big test for a new kayak channel - the Olympic course in Lee Valley, where the Olympic white water slalom event will held place next year. And it was a positive vibe - fresh look of the water, demanding, but not furious white water, was quickly adopted by everybody.

“This brand new course has some amazing features as there is plenty of stoppers and that regards to be very focused on the line you want to go. It could be very enjoyable, but it’s unpromising. When you do hard mistake then it’s hard to go back on line,” told about the course the winner of K1 test event, sandiEquipe member Vavřinec Hradilek. “It’s different to the other courses and that is all right. I would definitely not do any more big changes. Configuration is solid and maybe I would take out two or three stoppers and substitute them for some wave as for example is in Penrith or Bratislava in the middle. But maybe just the little one. This course is awesome to race on!”

The results were great. In K1 Vavra won in front of another sandiEquipe member Peter Kauzer and french Fabien Lefevre. “The final run was good, I could felt gliding of the boat and i was really focused whole the way down. Even when I touched in the middle of the course I was doing my job as I would do without touch. The feeling after race finished was, of course, nice!” told the winner after the race.

In C1 Michal Martikan (SVK) won in front of Jan Benzien (GER) and Denise Gargaud Chanut (FRA). sandiEquipe member David Florence (GBR) finished 6th.
In C2 Hochschorners (SVK) won in front of Škantars (SVK) and Becker/Hanze (GER). sandiEquipe members Volf/Stepanek (CZE) finished 6th.
In K1W Melanie Pfeifer (GER) won in front of Katerina Kudejkova (CZE) and Urša Kragelj (SLO). sandiEquipe member Elena Kaliska (SVK) finished 6th.

We wish to everybody a lot of luck at the Olympics and great time in the Lee Valley white water center.
