Vasilij Žbogar (SLO)

Vasilij Zbogar

Determination & Persistence

His moto in Istrian dialect is "Krepat, krepat ma ne molat!" (something like "you can die but don't give up!"). This the best way to describe his greatest qualities of determination and persistence. Vasco is one of Slovenia's most successful and popular sportsman of the last decade. With third place at the 2004 Olympics in Athens he won Slovenia's first sailing Olympic medal. In Beijing 2008 he made one step forward by winning the silver medal in the last regatta. His legendary celebrations, enthusiasm and kind character make him very popular not only in his home town of Izola (where he is "a god") and Slovenia, but also among other sailors and the opposite sex (in 2004 he was selected as Cosmopolitan's European sportsman of the year). In 2009 he decided to switch from Laser to finn Class. We have cooperated with Vasilij from when we first got involved in sailing. He was also the first SandiEquipe non-canoe athlete.

Gašper Vinčec (SLO)

Gasper-VincecEnjoy the ride

For the last five years he has been one of the best finn class sailors in the world. He won two world cup races (2005, 2007) came second once (2008) and third twice(2005, 2008). He came third at the 2008 World Championships in Cascaisu (Portugal), won the bronze medal at the 2005 European Championships, finished 4th at the European Championships, three times consecutively (2006-2008) and finished 7th at the Beijing Olympics. Gas helps us a lot with the development of sailing gear. He is very critical and explains very well what sailors need. After a year mostly dedicated to his family now he is more motivated than ever because he's got a strong rival (Vasilij Žbogar) for the 2012 Olympic Finn class Olympic qualification.
