Vasilij Žbogar became European Finn Champion

994548 10151569678412634 1064859448 nVasilij Žbogar, Slovene, that has been sailing with our gear, since the very beginning, became European Finn Champion in Warnemünde, Germany, where this year's European Champion took place.

It's been extremely difficult event for everybody, as the sailing conditions weren't very stable - sailors managed to finish just 8 races. Yet Vasilij was almost unbeatable during the whole event and was leading from the first racing day on, although he had big problems with his sailing equipment - broken boom and problems with main sail hoist. This is his 2nd such title (in 2003 he won Laser EC in Split, Croatia).

He told us: after the race“The week was quite hard but I like these sort of conditions, and I took advantage of it and sailed really conservative and good races all the time. Straight from the beginning I was trying to be conservative and not make big mistakes and that paid off in the beginning of the regatta and I just continued like that. My boat speed was really good so I didn't want to mess around too much, and looking back the worst first mark rounding was fourth place so that was extremely good and I am very proud of that.”

It wasn't just Vasilij from SandiLine team that was very successful on this event. Ivan Kljakovič Gašpič and Jonathan Lobert were both sailing really well, yet they both got a BFD in the last race, which disabled them to be on the podium and finished 6th and 8th overall.

Finn sailors are now slowly moving to Tallin, Estonia, where World Champion will take place in the end of August.

Sailing youth championships in Balaton, Hungary

946606 344952748969535 1835211284 nThe biggest european lake Balaton has hosted many world and european championships this year, among them were European Optimist Championship, 4.7 World and European Championship, Laser Radial Girls U21 and Laser Standard U21 World and European Championship. This hungarian lake is known for very shifty and unstable conditions with light winds. It hasn't been much different in the past weeks when these championships for youngsters took place. This time it fitness didn't pay off a lot, yet the patience and concentration prevailed. To achieve this, sailors really have to feel comfortable in their sailing gear, especially when temperatures are around 30ºC. That's the reason that so many sailors wore sandiline products. One of them was our athlete Eliot Merceron, Sandiliner and french young sailor, that has finished 6th (5th european) in the World Laser Standard U21 world championship.

Congratulations to all competitors and hopefully we will see you again in the future.
